Track from Ashland 1887

SEPTEMBER 17, 1936 - Joseph Henry Bowers, who was in charge of the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy railroad business in Wahoo, was checked into this office as agent July 5, 1914, relieving I. R. Edwards who is now engaged with the Nebraska Culvert & Pipe Co., in Wahoo.

Before coming to Wahoo, Mr. Bowers was stationed at Prague, Neb., for nine years and has been connected with the Schuyler branch for thirty-two years. This old-timer in railroad circles assumed his responsibilities with the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy railroad company on January 10, 1900, at Schuyler. The Burlington railroad completed its track from Ashland to Wahoo, April 5, 1887 and to Schuyler, October 24, 1887. However they did not begin laying track from Wahoo to Schuyler until August 31, 1887.

Ralph Budd, president of the Burlington system, contacts all of his men personally when he goes over the road and he is loud in his praise for the service that Mr. Bowers has rendered during the twenty-two years that he has stamped tickets and billed out freight from Wahoo.
