President Stops in Valparaiso
President Stops In Valparaiso
MAY 6, 1943 - President Roosevelt passed through Saunders
county early Monday morning, April 26. The president's train
came into Valparaiso during the night and spent seven hours
there while it was serviced. Soldiers were everywhere guarding
every switch, building and every possible hiding place. They
were spread out along the track within hailing distance of
each other all the way to Omaha.
The president's train did not stop at the Mead Bomb Loading
Plant, but there is suspicion that he inspected the area while
the train was in Valparaiso.
